In March, 2023 the Casco Bay Estuary Partnership (CBEP) hired Reel Quest Films to produce a short video as part of a National Science Foundation grant. CBEP planned to use the video, not only in the grant proposal (which was successful, but also more broadly to highlight the work they are doing on ocean models and coastal resilience. This work includes developing new tools that present information from complex ocean models in ways that solve real-world problems. Think of a weather report, which rests on complex behind-the-scenes models. In this case the ocean forecasts would provide detailed data on tides, currents, water temperatures, and salinity.

For the video, we spent two days creating new interview footage and used existing archival footage as b-roll to create the edit you see above. Most of this archival footage was created by Reel Quest co-founder Jerry Monkman during past assignments for CBEP.
