Conserving Access: The Future of Maine’s Lands

In the fall of 2025, the Natural Resources Council of Maine (NRCM) asked Reel Quest Films to produce a short film looking at the tradition of access to private land in Maine for hunting, hiking, snowmobiling, fishing, etc., and how land trusts in Maine are working to preserve that access in the face of threats to that access. The result is a ten minute film featuring interviews with Mainers directly involved with this issue: Karin Tilberg, former president and CEO of the Forest Society of Maine, Jeff McEvoy a registered Maine guide and Owner of Weatherby’s Sporting Camps in Grand Lake Stream, and Aaron Dority the Executive Director of Frenchman Bay Conservancy. Above you will fid the one minute trailer to the film.

For this project, NRCM asked us to create a three minute film as well as four one-minute reels, all to be used in social media. We suggested also creating a ten-minute version that could be shown at events and film festivals and we’re glad we did – our interviewees gave us so many good insights about this issue, that we really wanted to share more of their knowledge in a longer form. We’ll be releasing the full version of the film this summer (2025).
