In the fall of 2021, we produced a video for the Northeast Wilderness Trust (NEWT) that explains their innovative wilderness protection program, the Wildlands Partnership. With an assist from frequent Reel Quest collaborator, Joe Klementovich, we spent two days with folks from the Northeast Wilderness Trust and the Frenchman Bay Conservancy in the newly conserved Frenchman Bay Community Forest in Hancock, Maine. We filmed two interviews and some killer b-roll during peak foliage.
The Wildlands Partnership was created to increase the amount of land in the northeastern U.S. that is protected as forever wild. Currently, only 3% of conserved land in the region meets this criteria. The Northeast Wilderness Trust uses their Wildlands Partnership program to help local land trusts find the financing to acquire land. This includes taking advantage of The Northeast Wilderness Trust’s Wild Carbon program.
